1040 – Death of Duncan I of Scotland

Duncan the Sick wasn’t a match for the ambitious Macbeth. He ruled for six years, fighting Macbeth on various occasions until he was killed in action.

See the wonderful play out of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, Act 2, Scene 2, when Duncan is murdered (so, this was not necessarily the historically correct version).
