843 – Viking Raid on Nantes
It is an onimous day when the Vikings arrive in Nantes, Francia. They have already run down much of the northern Frankish territories. They ally with the Count of Anjou and sack the town (see Neil Price, The Vikings in Brittany, pp. 23).

888 – Odo I defeats the Vikings at Montfaucon-en-Argonne
By 888, Odo defeats the Vikings, but little else is known about this battle (see Charles Oman, A History of the Art of War in the Middle Ages, chapter 3).
