946 – Death of Edmund I, King of England

By the time Edmund the Magnificent died, he had reigned over England for just under seven years. In that time, he had his fair share of Viking encouters, supporting his half-brother Æthelstan I, until he was murdered by an outlaw. He is succeeded by his son Edgar the Peaceable.
