1008 – Birth of Henry I of France

Son of Robert the Pious of France and Constance of Arles. Henry was crowned king of the Franks in 1028. During his reign he dealt with many family and regional disputes. When the Normandy vassals rebelled against William the Conqueror, he came to his aid. But later as William grew stronger, Henry invaded the duchy instead. Notably, he married a Rus’ princess, Anna of Kiev, who ruled the kingdom for her son upon her husband’s death in 1060.
