New ship burials in Sweden

Two new ship burials either from the Vendel period or the Viking Age.

Swedish archaeologists have made the rare discovery of not one, but two complete ship burials in Gamla Uppsala. That one of the two graves is undisturbed makes it even more special. The grave contains human remains, most likely of a high-born person buried alongside a dog and horse and other grave goods. For now, scientists believe the burials date back to the sixth through eleventh century. So, either the Vendel period or the Viking Age.
