Women’s graves

Yesterday, a report was published about a Viking Age woman’s grave in Kvaløya, Norway. The report is in Norwegian, but there is a thoughtful post in English by Jóhanna Katrín Friðriksdóttir on her blog Valkyrie, highlighting special aspects to this grave. It might not be as spectacular as the Birka warrior grave, but there are enough details to give you food for thought.

And if you’re interested, I recently wrote The Briefest Book Review (12) about a book she published very recently that is also called Valkyrie.
